    Watercolour giraffes, elephants, lion and leopard cubs in tan and soft brown, standing among fine dried grasses and seed heads on a warm cream ground. This is the quietest of our safari sets — the animals are painted at rest rather than mid-roar, and the palette never leaves tan and brown. It gives you the theme a child will name and point at without the room ever raising its voice.

    Where to start if you don't want everything: the crib sheet and a rug do most of the visual work in a baby room. The area rug is the piece with the longest life here — naming the giraffe is a game that starts long after the crib sheet has stopped being noticed.
