Nursery Size Guide: Rugs, Crib Sheets, Blankets & Pillows
Every Snoozabye piece comes in a fixed set of sizes, so the only real question is which one suits your room. This page lists the exact measurements for each piece, in inches, alongside a note on where each size tends to work best.
Nursery rugs
Rugs come in two shapes. The area rug is rectangular and comes in three sizes, each available in landscape or portrait. The round rug comes in one size.
Area rug
- Small — 36" × 24" or 24" × 36". A runner-sized piece for beside the crib or in front of a dresser.
- Medium — 60" × 36" or 36" × 60". The size most nurseries want. Wide enough to sit under a glider with room to play in front of it.
- Large — 72" × 48" or 48" × 72". Anchors the middle of a larger room, with the front legs of furniture resting on the edge.
The first number is the width. Where the width is greater than the height, the print reads landscape.
Round rug
- 60" round. Five feet across, which is enough for a play mat under a mobile or in the centre of a small room.
If you are unsure, mark the size out on the floor with masking tape before ordering. A rug almost always looks smaller once it is down.
Crib sheets
- Standard crib — 28" × 52". Fits a standard US crib mattress.
- Mini crib — 24" × 38". Fits a mini or portable crib mattress.
A crib sheet must fit tightly. Check that it stays snug at all four corners and does not lift when you tug at the middle. If it moves, it is the wrong size for that mattress.
Changing pad cover
- 32" × 16.5". Fits the contoured changing pads sold at standard size in the US.
Minky baby blanket
- 30" × 40". A stroller and car seat size — large enough to tuck around a baby, small enough to carry.
For how this compares with swaddle, receiving and toddler blanket sizes, see our baby blanket size guide.
Hooded baby towel
- 30" × 30". Square, with a corner hood. Suits newborn through toddler.
Nursery pillows
- 18" × 18". The most popular size, and the one that reads as a proper cushion on a glider.
- 16" × 16". Sits neatly in a smaller glider without crowding it.
- 20" × 20". For a daybed, a floor cushion or a reading corner.
- 14" × 14". A small accent, usually layered in front of a larger one.
A note on safety
The American Academy of Pediatrics advises against loose blankets and pillows in the crib before twelve months. Our blankets and pillows are made for the glider, the floor and the stroller rather than for sleeping.
