    Small grey elephants with trunks raised, walking among sage and forest-green leaf sprigs and little apricot buds, on a clean cream ground. It is the simplest animal set we make — one creature, drawn plainly, repeated. That is what makes it work as a first nursery: nothing here competes with the furniture, and an elephant is one of the first words a child says.

    Where to start if you don't want everything: the crib sheet and a rug do most of the visual work in a baby room. Add the blanket and pillow to soften it, and the hooded towel if you want bath time to match too.
