Nursery decoration — the rugs, pillows and wall decor that turn a bedroom with a crib in it into an actual nursery.

Furniture is mostly neutral: a white crib, a wooden dresser, a glider. The decoration is what carries the theme, and it is what you will notice every time you walk in. The rug does the heaviest lifting, since it covers the most surface and defines the play area where the whole first year happens.

Where to start: the rug first, because it sets the palette. Then pillows for the glider or daybed, and wall decor to finish the room at eye level.
